Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn has been an American actress for film, TV and stage since the end of the 1970s. An accomplished thespian, she has been performing professionally for the last 27 years. Her career began in 1990 in an off Broadway production called The Big Funk, by John Patrick Shanley. In the following year she was cast in her first television role, The Perfect Tribute. In 1992 she got her breakthrough after being cast in Basic Instinct as a secondary role. It was in the movie The Firm however that she got the role of leading female character for the very first time. She was cast in the film alongside actors like Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. Through the 1990s her career included working alongside top Hollywood actors like Gwyneth as in Sliding doors, Hugh Grant Mickey Blue Eyes and Julie Andrews Relative Values. She portrayed Dr. Alex Blake on the popular international police procedural drama Criminal Minds.
